How To Cricket
First off, your friend is most likely giving you poor advice.
Crickets are done in a HANDGLIDE freeze. Not a baby freeze. So practice doing them in a handglide freeze. You should be attempting to pump from a handglide, and once you get this down, you can try adding a tap, with one hand, etc.
As for the pump, DO NOT USE YOUR LEGS. Anyone that says to use your legs is wrong. This makes your legs flail, and you will never get jackhammers. You will be mainly using your STABBED arm to pump. The other arm can aid little bit, but learn how to do without. You can use your hips (I think I am just a little bit), but make sure you don't end up using your legs.
I advise you to check out President's Tutorial, which is stickied on this forum. It will break down crickets into steps, which you combine.
